IPL 2023 The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 is just around the corner, but franchises are still unsure about the availability of English and Australian players for the entire tournament. Ben Stokes, who is currently nursing a knee injury, has confirmed that he will not be available for the playoffs.

However, he is not the only player likely to pull out due to upcoming international commitments. With England set to play against Ireland and in the World Test Championship Final, several other English and Australian cricketers may have to leave the IPL early.

Despite the uncertainty, Chennai Super Kings CEO Kasi Viswanathan remains confident that Ben Stokes will play the full tournament. According to Viswanathan, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had informed the franchises before the auction that all players would be available for the entire IPL.

However, with the Ashes series coming up, Stokes has also expressed concerns about his availability in the league stages. He has confirmed that he will play in the IPL, at least in the league stages, but if his injury flares up, CSK will have to be prepared with a replacement.

Other English players who could potentially miss the playoffs include Sam Curran, Joe Root, Jos Buttler, Phil Salt, Jofra Archer, Jonny Bairstow, Reece Topley, and Harry Brook. As for Australian players, David Warner, Cameron Green, Josh Hazlewood, Mitchell Marsh, and Glenn Maxwell are expected to leave the tournament early if they seal their spot in the World Test Championship Final.

BCCI officials have stated that the decision to leave the IPL early is up to the individual players. The respective cricket boards have confirmed the players’ participation in the tournament, but if players want to go back early and prepare for international matches, there is nothing that the BCCI or the boards can do to stop them.

the availability of English and Australian players remains a concern for IPL franchises. While BCCI officials have conveyed that all players will be available for the entire tournament, the decision ultimately lies with the individual players and their respective boards. As for Ben Stokes, CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan remains confident that he will play the full tournament, but with his injury concerns, the team must be prepared with a replacement if needed.
