Chennai Super Kings (CSK), the four-time champions of the Indian Premier League (IPL), are gearing up for the upcoming edition of the tournament with a preparatory camp at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. The camp is set to begin on Friday, with CSK captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni and several Indian members of the squad expected to be in attendance.
CSK CEO K S Viswanathan confirmed that training will start tomorrow and Dhoni, along with the Indian team members, will be attending the camp. Joining them will be Ajinkya Rahane and Ambati Rayudu.
The franchise had made some notable acquisitions during the auction earlier this year, including England Test captain Ben Stokes and New Zealand pacer Kyle Jamieson. However, Jamieson’s participation in the tournament is in doubt due to a recurring back injury, and CSK sources say that a replacement will be decided after consultations with Dhoni.
CSK will take on defending champions Gujarat Titans in the season opener on March 31. The team has been placed in Group B alongside Punjab Kings, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Gujarat Titans, while Mumbai Indians, Rajasthan Royals, Kolkata Knight Riders, Delhi Capitals, and Lucknow Super Giants make up Group A.
In conclusion, with the commencement of the pre-IPL camp, the CSK team is leaving no stone unturned to ensure they have a competitive advantage in the tournament. With the presence of their captain and several Indian squad members, as well as the addition of some exceptional overseas players, the team looks well equipped to tackle the challenges that the tournament will bring.
