AMBERNATH, MAHARASHTRA – The administrative headquarters of the Ambernath Municipal Council (AMC) turned into a scene of chaos on Friday afternoon as a fierce dispute between two groups of contractors erupted into a physical brawl. The fight, reportedly over a lucrative parking tender, took place directly inside the main building, shocking on-duty officials and visitors.
According to initial reports, tensions over the bidding process for a new city parking contract boiled over, leading to a heated argument that quickly escalated. Eyewitnesses described a chaotic scene where punches were thrown and furniture was overturned. The brawl continued for several minutes even as local police stationed at the building intervened to separate the groups.
At least two individuals sustained minor injuries in the altercation and were taken for medical attention. The incident has raised serious questions among citizens about the security protocols within the AMC building and the conduct of contractors vying for public projects.
Local authorities have launched an investigation into the matter. “We will not tolerate such behavior on government premises,” a senior official stated. “Strict action will be taken against all individuals involved after a thorough investigation is complete.” The tendering process for the parking contract has been temporarily suspended pending the outcome of the inquiry.
