AMBERNATH, MAHARASHTRA – Residents and commuters in several parts of Ambernath East are expressing growing frustration over civic road work that began after the monsoon season was already underway. The poorly timed concreting and repair projects have left many key roads unfinished, leading to severe waterlogging and traffic chaos during rain spells.

Areas near the highway and several internal connector roads are particularly affected. With excavation work done and materials left on the roadside, rainwater has accumulated in large puddles on the uneven surfaces, making it difficult for two-wheelers and auto-rickshaws to navigate.

“It makes no sense to start digging up roads when you know the heavy rains are coming,” said a local shopkeeper whose business has been affected by the disruption. “Every year it is the same story. They wait until the last minute, and we are the ones who suffer from the waterlogging and traffic jams.”

While municipal officials claim the work is essential, residents are questioning the planning and execution. The situation highlights the need for better coordination in civic projects to ensure they are completed during the dry season to avoid causing widespread public inconvenience during the monsoon.
