The wait is finally over for electric car enthusiasts in India! Global EV giant Tesla has officially launched its first-ever charging facility in the country, marking a huge step in its much-awaited entry into the Indian market. The state-of-the-art charging station is now open at the bustling Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) in Mumbai.
This exciting development comes just weeks after Tesla opened its first Experience Centre in the financial capital, where it launched its popular Model Y electric SUV. The new charging station at One BKC is a clear sign that Tesla is serious about building a strong presence in India.
The facility boasts four powerful V4 supercharging stalls, which can charge your car at a blazing-fast speed of 250 kW. There are also four destination charging stalls that offer a standard 11kW AC charging option. So, whether you’re in a hurry or just need a top-up, Tesla has you covered.
And that’s not all! Tesla has big plans to expand its charging network in the city. The company has announced that it will be setting up three more charging stations in Lower Parel, Thane, and Navi Mumbai by the end of the September quarter. This will make it even more convenient for Tesla owners to find a charging spot.
For those looking to buy a Tesla, the Model Y is now available in India in two variants. The rear-wheel-drive model is priced at ₹59.89 lakh, while the long-range rear-wheel-drive model will cost you ₹67.89 lakh. The cars are being imported from Tesla’s Gigafactory in Shanghai, with deliveries expected to begin in the third and fourth quarters of this year.
The launch of Tesla’s charging station is a major boost for the EV ecosystem in India. It is expected to encourage more people to switch to electric vehicles and will set a new benchmark for charging infrastructure in the country. With Tesla’s arrival, the future of electric mobility in India looks brighter than ever!
